Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 June 2026
Breadsheet is built to be private by default. Your financial data lives on your device, we never connect to your bank, and you do not need an account to start. This policy explains exactly what we do and do not collect.
The short version
- Your transactions, budgets, and accounts are stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
- We have no bank connection and never ask for bank credentials.
- You can use the app without creating an account.
- AI features send only what that feature needs to work: your audio, image, or question, plus a small amount of spending context. We never send your full transaction history.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data stored on your device
All of your financial records, including transactions, categories, budgets, accounts, and notes, are stored locally on your device. We cannot see this data, and it is not uploaded to our servers. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
Accounts and authentication
You can use Breadsheet's core features anonymously. When you first open the app, an anonymous identifier may be created to enable app functionality. If you purchase Breadsheet Pro, you can optionally sign in so your subscription is restored after a reinstall or on a new phone. Authentication is provided through Supabase. We store only the minimum needed to identify your subscription, and we do not store your transactions there.
AI-powered features
Some features use AI to save you time. When, and only when, you use one of these features, the relevant input is sent for processing:
- Voice entry: the audio clip you record, your category names, and a short list of payees you have used before (name and category only, no amounts) so the AI can categorize consistently.
- Receipt scan: the photo of the receipt you capture, your category names, and that same short payee list.
- Assistant: the text of your question, along with a compact snapshot of your spending: account names and balances, this month's totals by category, and a limited window of your most recent transactions (a few dozen entries from roughly the last few months). This lets the assistant answer questions about your spending without sending your full transaction history.
This processing is performed by Google Gemini, accessed through our Supabase backend. We send only what is needed to fulfil that request, never your full transaction history, and none of it is used to build an advertising profile of you.
Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by the App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to manage and verify purchase status. RevenueCat receives purchase-related data, such as a purchase token and subscription state, so we can unlock Pro features and restore them across reinstalls. Payment card details are handled by Apple or Google and are never seen by us.
What we don't collect
- Bank logins or financial-institution credentials.
- Your transaction data on our servers.
- Contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
Data retention and deletion
Because your financial data is stored on your device, you control it. Clearing the app's data or deleting the app removes it. Subscription records held by our processors are retained as required to provide and verify your purchase. To request deletion of any account or subscription data associated with you, contact us at the address below.
Children
Breadsheet is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age in your region, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
